Welcome to FPC

We are a cafe with a mission to equip young people from Richmond's East End with valuable skills and work experience. We take pride in serving quality breakfast, lunch, and coffee that creates a friendly front porch culture for the entire community.

The Front Porch Cafe is owned and operated by Church Hill Activities and Tutoring, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to serve the youth of Richmond's East End and equip them with the heart, head, and hands to make transformative life decisions. The Front Porch Cafe is made possible by a partnership with Bon Secours Sarah Garland Jones Center and the Robins Foundation.

Workforce Development Program

The Front Porch Cafe is part of Church Hill Activities & Tutoring’s broader Workforce Development Program. The Workforce Development Program is geared toward preparing youth for future employment by providing them with job readiness skills. If you are interested in joining the Workforce Development Program apply at the button below. There are three programs in addition to the Cafe:

Nehemiah's Workshop: High School students are hired to learn wood working skills and produce and sell high quality items like corn hole games, picnic tables, cutting boards, bird feeders and other products. Nehemiah's Workshop is also a life skills option for after school programming. Visit the Nehemiah’s Workshop store here.

On Point Prints: Our screen printing studio where students make T-shirts and manage orders for CHAT and other clients.

Urban Farming: Students learn about gardening and horticulture in the CHAT community garden and through partnerships with Tricycle. Students also have the opportunity to learn business skills through participation in markets.

Now we are the proud recipient of the Lora M. and E. Claiborne Robins Community Innovation Grant, which will create more opportunities for students to participate in on-the-job training and job-readiness classes that foster a deeper understanding of the challenges and fulfillment of the work environment.
